The Side Saddlery is pleased to offer a Goodnight Western side saddle rebuilt in the last 10 years in El Paso, Texas.
The seat measures 19" long, measured from the front of the upright pommel to the rear of the seat. The seat measures 15" wide. The saddle has the typical double skirts of the Goodnight side saddle with unique border tooling.
It has a wider tree that has fit both a wide Arab and a larger Quarter Horse. The gullet (at the level where a breast collar would attach) measures 6 inches to the fork of the tree.
The saddle has the stirrup leather and an antique metal side saddle stirrup. It has both western latigos and billets along with two string girths as well as an overgirth in matching leather to keep the flaps from moving about. The nearside flap is larger to protect the rider's skirt or apron.
Both the leaping head and fixed pommel are in excellent condition. The original stitching pattern on the pommel was recreated when the saddle was redone. The saddle has a beautiful purse on the off side. The skirting is lined with real wool fiber on a synthetic back which keep the fibers from becoming patchy & shedding with age. The seat is nicely padded & very comfortable.
This is a wonderful saddle - too good to pass up! The owner has set the price lower than appraised value as she wants the saddle to go to a good home where it will be used and enjoyed. The saddle is ready to put on a horse and ride!
