1889 H.G. Haedrich of Philadelphia - Summerset side saddle. Rideable, perfect for re-enactors!
It has serge panels with flocking that is well done - not hard or lumpy. There is a third pommel on the offside to support your thigh.
Look at the purse on the off side!
The stirrup leather buckles to a strap on the offside with a connector strap (not included) to help stabilize the saddle from rolling IN ADDITION TO the balance strap. Extremely unusual feature! The saddle comes with the stirrup leather and the plain side saddle stirrup. There is a crupper ring on the rear. The safe is padded. There is some wear, as would be expected in a saddle this old, but the leather is in good condition overall.
The seat measures 20 inches from the front of the pommel to the rear of the seat. The seat is very wide 15 1/2 inches wide at its widest. Although it looks narrow with the lack of a cutback, there is flare to the points, making it a solid medium tree.
The owner indicates that it is reinforced for jumping and she jumped with it in the past!
