Gorgeous Martin & Martin Side Saddle. This is a nice example of a hunting saddle from this prestigious maker. This saddle measures 22.5" long through the seat measured from the front of thefixed pommel to the rear of the seat. The tree measures 5 1/2" between the breast collar D rings (to the actual tree) and 17" between the points, making it a medium fit.
This saddle has brand new doe skin placed on the seat. There is a two position leaping head to allow you to really get forward over fences or to keep a lovely long leg on the flat. The billets and the balance strap are in good condition on this saddle.
The saddle has an stirrup leather that is adjustable on the offside under the flap, and the off side flap is hinged to avoid the nuisance of an overgirth. The stirrup leather is brand new.
The padded safe was just replaced by our saddler - no worry about your boot wearing through fragile leather on an old saddle!
The linen and serge panels are newer & have been completely replaced relatively recently. Both the leather nearer the saddle & the linen and serge against the horse are new, then correctly flocked. D rings are present for a breast collar (not included with the saddle)
There is a worn spot in the leather of the side of the leaping head that does not affect it's function. It would not be seen when being ridden. We opted not to replace the leaping head's cover in order to keep as much of the saddle in its original condition as possible.
