Gorgeous Martin & Martin side saddle. This is a nice example of a hunting saddle from this prestigious maker. This saddle measures 20.5" long through the seat measured from the front of the fixed pommel to the rear of the seat and 12.5" wide. The tree measures 7" between the breast collar D rings (to the actual tree) and 16.5" between the points, making it a medium wide fit.
This saddle has brand new doe skin placed on the seat. There is a two position leaping head to allow you to really get forward over fences or to keep a lovely long leg on the flat. The billets and the balance strap are in good condition on this saddle.
The saddle has Martin & Martin's patented bullseye break away asssembly for the stirrup leather and includes the leather & fitting, though not the stirrup. The off side flap is hinged to avoid the nuisance of an overgirth.
The safe is close contact, much like an Owen side saddle.
The panels are recently recovered wth new leather and are in excellent shape. D rings are present for a breast collar (not included with the saddle)
There is a worn spot in the leather of the side of the fixed head that does not affect it's function. It would not be seen when being ridden. The leaping head has been completed redone with new leather.
