The saddle's billets and seat webbing are sound. The fixed head (upper pommel) is sound with no movement and no signs of damage. The leaping head is easily removed and screws into position on reverse threads - settling into a solid, correct position. Pigskin seat and fixed head. Deerskin lined leaping head for added grip!
The seat measures 22" in length from the front of the upright pommel to the rear of the seat. The seat measures 13.5" in width. This is a WIDE tree measuring nearly 7" between the breast collar's D rings, 17" wide between the bottom of the points.
This is a nice Old Name saddle that was recently refurbished. The saddle has a new leaping head cover, new nearside overgirth, and new elastic on the convenience tab for off side overgirth. It has a new padded safe and a new balance strap. The fixed pommel has a small patch at the front to cover a worn area. The seat has some slightly discoloration in a striped pattern - perhaps something had been stored on top of it in the past. This does not affect it's ride nor is it visible when mounted. There is a small slit in the linen on the rear of the right panel - visible in the pictures. The leather has been professionally cleaned and reconditioned, leaving it supple.
This saddle rides nicely! Priced at $1600.
