An older Champion & Wilton English side saddle from the teens or very early 20's, one of the great Old Name English side saddles.
The saddle comes complete with a C&W breakaway stirrup fitting, stirrup leather, stirrup, & balance strap. The billets and seat webbing are sound. The pommels have had the ends patched. The seat has had a doe skin overlay put on for added grip when riding. The doeskin covers a seam repair on the sides. Reinforced for light jumping!
The saddle has newer linen over serge panels. There are D rings to attach your sandwich case and breast collar. The panels extend out under the safe to provide padding between your calf and the horse's shoulder. Billets & balance strap have been replaced in the past.
The seat measures 21.5" in length from the front of the upright pommel to the rear of the seat and measures 13" in width. This is a medium tree measuring 7.5" between the breast collar's D rings, measured to the actual fork and 16" from point to point.
The price reflects the need to replace the elastic on the convenience tab for the overgirth, stitch down the keeper for the overgirth, and stitch the binding of the panel's edge under the safe.
The saddle comes with a very nice baghide trifold girth, vintage balance strap, stirrup and stirrup fitting.
