A vintageChampion & Wilton English side saddle from the early to mid teens, one of the great Old Name English side saddles.
The saddle comes complete with a C&W breakaway stirrup fitting, stirrup leather, Eldonian egg-eye stirrup, & a vintage balance strap. The billets and seat webbing are sound. The fixed pommel has had the end patched and may need a stitch or two. The seat has doeskin inset for added grip when riding - recently cleaned by the owner. The saddle is heavily reinforced for jumping!
The saddle has Belgian linen over serge panels. There are D rings to attach your sandwich case and your breast collar. The panels extend out under the safe to provide padding between your calf and the horse's shoulder. Note the "pass through" slot for your breast collar strap! It is difficult to beat the lines of the old name side saddles!
The seat measures 21.5" in length from the front of the upright pommel to the rear of the seat and measures a wide 13.5" in width. This is a generous medium-wide tree measuring measuring 17.5" from point to point.
A few areas that need minor attention: Minor keeper straps need a few stitches, as does the flap over the stirrup assembly. The price reflects a few minor touch ups needed to bring the saddle back to show condition.
