Mayhew The Lissadell Side Saddle
Mayhew - The Lissadell side saddle - The "workhorse" of the Old Name English side saddles in a workman-like condition. The Lissadell model was a well built saddle intended for work on the flat and over fences.
This is a Mayhew, The Lissadell side saddle with a light-toned pigskin seat, pigskin pommels and belgian linen over serge panels. The seat is 22 1/2 inches long by a generous 13 1/2 inches wide. The pommels are the wide "improved group" pommels that Mayhew is so well known for. The linen and serge panels are in good condition with the panel extending under the safe to support your right leg.
The saddle is a medium fit. It is reinforced for jumping and rides quite nicely. The saddle has been on a larger warmblood, a thoroughbred and a standarbred.
It has D rings for your breast collar and a kerchief pocket on the offside. The lady who ordered this saddle originally did not include D rings for attaching a sandwich case. The overgirth strap is new on the off side and has a new elastic convenience tab. The billets are in good condition. Note a small tear on the off side between the edge and the kerchief pocket which has been repaired. It does not affect the ride of this gorgeous hunting and jumping saddle.
The saddle has the Mayhew breakaway assembly. It comes with a standard, plain stirrup leather and stirrup.
