Mayhew The Lissadell Side Saddle
Mayhew - The Lissadell side saddle - The "workhorse" of the Old Name English side saddles in a near-perfect show condition. The Lissadell model was a well built saddle intended for work on the flat and over fences.
You will notice that the original owner must have preferred the C&W breakaway safety system and requested that it be placed on her Mayhew! She also had the convenience of outside billets - very smart looking and easy to asjust your girth unaided!
This saddle came over from England 20+ years ago in its own seat on the jet!
This side saddle has a light doeskin seat and pommels and belgian linen over serge panels. The seat is 21 1/2 inches long by a generous 13 1/2 inches wide. The pommels are the wide "improved group" pommels that Mayhew is so well known for. The linen and serge panels are in great condition with the panel extending under the safe to support your right leg.
The saddle is a wide fit with 8" between the D rings for the breast collar (measured to the tree) and 17" from point to point. It is reinforced for jumping and rides quite nicely. This is a VERY nice saddle in great condition for the serious show rider or hunter!
It has D rings for your breast collar and your sandwich case on the offside. The billets are in good condition. The offside flap is quite narrow to show off your horse's profile.
The saddle has the C&W breakaway assembly. It comes with stirrup leather with the C&W fitting and a vintage egg eye stirrup anda vintage balance girth.
The only condition issue is a minor scruff on the leather edging on the rear side of the fixed head - will not be affected by riding and will not be seen when mounted.
