First Picture:

This is me (Jeannie Whited) and the sweet OTTB mare Bonnie (who had the unfortunate Jockey Club name Sourest Lady), and what is likely my re-entry into showing aside against astride riders. It was a show at my lesson barn, and they were good enough to humor me (as it turned out, one of my instructors became my sidesaddle student!).  This was somewhere in the 2007-9 range.  Bonnie is still a very special mare in my heart, and I cried in her mane when I moved too far away to continue at that barn.  There's not a lot of in-focus photos of us, so despite my amazing expression and hands you could land an airplane on, I still love this photo.

Second Picture:

The Maryland Horse World Expo, 2009.  This was perhaps our third year there.  Among others representing sidesaddle there, this photo shows my dressage instructor, Nancy Schechtman, on the grey, former ISSO President Janet Brown in the blurry foreground, and me (Jeannie Whited) narrating and instructing in the middle.   It was a lot of fun teaching my own instructor!  Also riding were Janet's granddaughters, Lilly and Abby Bowman. We generated a lot of interest in sidesaddle at the expo, and while the Maryland expo is now defunct, we still attend the Pennsylvania one run by the same people.

Third Picture:

This is from RideAside 2004, at the Kentucky Horse Park.  I (Jeannie Whited) am riding Maggie Herlensky's Lilly. She was an endurance horse, accustomed to using her very big trot to run into canter.  The trot was so rough she bounced me out of my sports bra!!  After that, I taught her a proper arena transition, just to avoid hurting myself.

Heidi Opdyke showing El Pintado "the Painted One" or Bardo at thoroughbred show in Doswell, VA. Bardo was 5 or 6 yrs old and was a great paint thoroughbred that was bought off the Track in California as a 2 year old, too slow to go.
