Thank You Shelly!

It is with a heavy heart we announce that after a lot of thought Shelly Liggett has made the hard decision to step down as President of ISSO to spend more time with her family (congrats on your first grandchild!). She will still be involved with ISSO and on the board but, now will be assuming the Executive Director position previously held by past-president, Janet Brown. The board voted, and Laureen Bartfield graciously accepted the Presidency to fulfill Shelly's term until March of 2021 (please read her President's address in this issue).

Michelle "Shelly" Liggett has been a dedicated and giving President for ISSO for as long as most of us can remember. Certainly before many of us even joined the organization.  She has been instrumental in bringing many of our dreams to fruition through her dedication to--not only teaching side saddle--but also by founding Camp Leaping Horn many years ago. When talking to anyone that knows her, the reoccurring statements are of how generous she is with her time, knowledge, and expertise. She has the rare talent of making people feel like she has always know them, is so welcoming and above all else anything she is involved with is always going to be fun! She has a huge heart and routinely opens her home, family, and farm up to many of us (even those she barely knows) so that we can participate in events in the New Jersey area, which is a rarity these days.

Through her active participation and commitment she has helped the organization continue to educate those new to and already well versed in the art of side saddle. It is through her that many of us were introduced to and have grown to love this organization. She always has a great humor about her and is beyond thoughtful in her actions within the organization as well as to her side saddle friends. We could not have done a multitude of things without her support over the years and many events would not have even occurred without her input. She truly is an amazing woman that we all are grateful to call a friend.

On behalf of the Board and our members we would like to extend a heart-felt think your for your dedication and continued support of ISSO. Your ideas, input and enthusiasm over the years has assisted with making valuable improvements in our organization. Thank you again for all your contributions, time and efforts through serving as the President of ISSO for these many years, and we wish you all the best with your future adventures.
